Biography

Elizabeth was appointed to serve on the Iowa Commission on the Status of Women in 2011. She also serves on the Iowa Department of Human Rights Board.  Elizabeth is active in the Des Moines community, serving as a member of the Board of Directors of House of Mercy, the Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center, and the Greater Des Moines Partnership Talent Development Board.  She previously served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Young Women's Resource Center, is a graduate of and a past member of the Board of Governors of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Junior League of Des Moines. She also serves other non-profit organizations in varying capacities.

Elizabeth is an attorney at the Davis Brown law firm and represents clients and businesses in the areas of employment practices and policies, labor, agribusiness, workers' compensation, health law, and business immigration law. She has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers in the area of Employment and Labor Law. In Best Lawyers of America®, Elizabeth has been listed in the area of Workers’ Compensation. Elizabeth is a member of various legal organizations, including the Polk County and Iowa State Bar Associations, the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Iowa Association of Workers’ Compensation Attorneys, to name a few.  She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Iowa State Bar Association, Central Iowa SHRM,  Iowa Association of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, Polk County Bar Association, and Polk county Women Attorneys.  

Elizabeth received her B.A. in Political Science and International Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and her J.D., with honors, from Drake University. She is admitted to the Iowa bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa and the United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
