Section 11.00 Payments 

The questions below apply to the Payments section of the LIHEAP Policy and Procedures Manual.

(added 12/27/18)  A structure has three apartments which are heated with propane. The propane account is in the landlord’s name. Each tenant takes turns filling the tank. If all three households apply for assistance, how do we proceed?

A direct payment would be made to the household(s) that applies. 

(added 11/27/19*)  A customer has propane as their primary fuel source but we will be paying the secondary utility instead. Because propane is awarded 5 points and electric is only awarded 4, there is a difference in the award amount. Which one are we supposed to use?

Pay the benefit amount determined for the primary fuel source (propane).
