Juvenile Justice Advisory Council

The Juvenile Justice Advisory Council (JJAC) is appointed by the Governor pursuant to federal law to oversee Iowa's use of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act formula grant funds and to develop plans for system improvements.  The State of Iowa receives annual federal funding for the followiing areas:

  • Juvenile Justice Youth Development Allocation
  • Aftercare
  • Gender Specific Community Initiative
  • Disproportionate Minority Contact
  • Mental Health


The JJAC has two subcommittees that focus on specific areas within the juvenile justice system.  More information can be found on the following pages:
