The Iowa Department of Human Rights' Office on the Status of Women (Iowa Commission on the Status of Women) proudly accepted a 2016 Achievement Award from the National Association of Commissions for Women in late July for its collaborative work during Pay Equity Week in 2016 with the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the U.S. Department of Labor's Women's Bureau.

The award was for Iowa's work in 2016, which included hosting a roundtable discussion and pay equity panel on April 11th, followed by a series of career skill building workshops throughout the week geared toward women called the Build a Brighter Future series.

Iowa was one of four state commissions to receive this award - other states who received this award include MassachusettsIndiana, and Oklahoma
