
Meet Kenn Yu!
As a first-generation immigrant, Kenn Yu moved to the United States in 2007 to attend Drake University in Des Moines where he received his Bachelor's degree in Finance and Master's degree in Accounting. After graduation, Kenn began his career as an auditor in the Des Moines office of EY, and has worked in various roles for Principal Financial, including an international assignment of 3 years in Principal's Beijing, China based joint venture with China Construction Bank. He assumed his current role as an operational risk manager for Cedar Rapids-based Transamerica Corporation in 2020. Kenn is very active in the community, currently serving as the Treasurer for Iowa Sister States, a nonprofit organization that manages the official state partnerships between Iowa and 7 foreign states and provinces. Kenn is a member of the West Des Moines Rotary Club. In the past, Kenn volunteered for the Iowa Asian Alliance and Chinese Association of Iowa. Originally from Suzhou, China, Kenn proudly calls Iowa his second home. Through his involvement with CAPI, Kenn looks forward to advocating for issues confronting the API communities in Iowa, especially those faced by first generation immigrants like himself.
